Our university’s Professor Oh Hyun-woong and his students founded the space and aerospace startup STEPLAB, which is developing key space technologies, including satellite cameras and vibration-reduction systems. The company successfully mounted its self-developed space-grade black-box camera on a CubeSat, capturing images of the Moon and Earth and transmitting them back to Earth.

STEPLAB is expanding its business by developing technologies that reduce satellite vibrations to improve observation accuracy, as well as satellite deployment and separation mechanisms. The company has secured KRW 11 billion in Series A funding and accumulated approximately KRW 21 billion in project contracts. It was also selected for the “Top 100 Defense Innovation Companies” initiative led by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement. STEPLAB aims to strengthen its technological competitiveness in the global space industry and grow into a specialized company in the small-satellite sector.
